Sierra Burgess is a loser: Movie Review

Hey loves. I'm back with another movie review from one of the movies in 2018. Let me start saying that THIS MOVIE WAS UTTER TRASH.

Disclaimer: Sorry for the people who think this movie was good.

So let's just talk about the title. 'Sierra Burgess is a loser' , we already know that the main character is going to be some loser navigating through life. This is higly rude. I know Netflix feels the need to express what happens in society but basing a movie on a girl who has insecurities to the point where she catfishes a guy is just not it. Sierra Burgess wasn't a loser. She was a nice person, sure she was shy and didn't talk to a lot of people. But she did a lot, she was smart, she had tutoring lessons to help people who weren't doing well in school. Isn't that what were there for in the first place, to excel in academic and sports?

Sierra was in the band. AND I AM TIRED OF MOVIES ALWAYS USING THINGS LIKE THE BAND AND PLAYING INSTRUMENTS AS A THING LAME PEOPLE DO AND CHEERLEADING ISN'T. PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT IS NOT LAME OR WACK , IT IS A TALENT THAT SOME PEOPLE CANNOT EVEN DO. Those people in band were talented and using stereotypes to send a message wasn't the way.

No one ever said being a bigger person makes you less likely to get the boy. Why were we made to believe that he only wanted the smaller girl, Sierra could've just started talking to him as herself. He wasn't part of the cool kids either and he didn't seem like the type to judge anyone. Why didn't they make Sierra and him just talk. Sure we all have our insecurituies and every one has flaws but the movie made sierra look like the selfish and ugly girl who just used Veronica just to get the boy because she was too ugly to get him by being herself in the first place. How's that for feeling confident.

The start of the movie. Sierra is telling herself she's beautiful. She seems confident in her own way bur after the catfishing scenario, she's now that insecure and big girl that no one would want. I really didn't like this because if you're going to promote the idea that everyone deserves a chance, using a stereotype to get that point across doesn't cut it for me.

The whole idea of her using the 'innocent and pretty' girl to do her dirty work just did'nt cut it for me. The closing your eyes while you're kissing because she didn't want him to see that it was her was just stupid. If a boy opened his eyes while they were kissing and saw her, he'd be freaked out because that's not want normal people would do. P.s no one gets underneath a car that quickly (I have an unfortunate experience with that).

Sure she falls in love in the end but she could've fallen in love with him in the first place as herself. Veronica does have a happy ending and the movie shows how people deal with things but always wear a brave face. but sorry that doesn't justify anyone for treating people like trash and you are above them. That is an excuse you cannot use because you're responsible for your own actions. Everyone goes through things that they don't want to talk about and you making them feel less or insecure in a place where they're just trying to learn is not right.

The only thing that was good in the movie is the end. Veronice finds her happiness and seems content with her life and she becomes a positive young woman.

I would give this movie a 3/10

Sunflowers are beautiful, I love sunflowers, If someone doesn't like you because you're not the ideal flower that they'd prefer then they can just scoot over to where they came from. There are many lilies, dandelions and sunflowers in the garden that would love you for you!
